My Mind is Lost

I want to be here with you
absorbed by your warming body
holding me close
but my mind is lost,
disappeared into an open forest
looking for the love she lost
hung up on why he left
and when he’ll be coming home,
refusing to close the door
for fear that one day he’ll return
with nowhere to sleep
