Writing isn’t my day job, should I quit?

A contemplation of what it takes to be a writer — opinions appreciated

Unfortunately, writing remains only a hobby that I can entertain when I have the time, which I feel has been increasingly fleeting. The more I want to take time to write, the more I become aware of all the other things I should be doing to be “productive”.
